Liberty Party
Who were they against?
They opposed both the Republican and Democratic Parties. They were an independent party that had elected presidential nominees to run for president against these parties. They greatly opposed William Loyd Garrison's group who thought the Constitution was a pro-slavery document.
What were their domestic goals?
They advocated the abolitionist cause and believed that the Constitution was an anti-slavery document. The party created a future platform for the freedom of the slaves. Decided to work within electoral politics to try to influence people to support their abolitionist cause.
